Double duty indo-western outfits that embrace the festive fever

We’re nearly at the end of the 2016 and while it may not have been the greatest end-of-the-year for some, (sorry, America) for us it’s filled with beautiful festivals and weddings! If you, like me, have a dearth of Indian-wear coupled with friends who have recently decided to get married you're probably exhausted searching for outfits that are perfect for you.

The other issue? Most of these gorgeous Indian outfits come with pretty lofty price tags, which further amplifies the problem. Therefore, the (kinda) solution is to find outfits that can pull double duty. By that, I mean a sari blouse that could be worn as a crop top or a lehenga skirt that can be worn as a funky maxi.

So, if you're looking for traditional wear with a slightly modern twist, this is the list for you!

Sport an Indian-chic look in this gorgeous black fitted maxi, which opens into a flare below the waist. The Kashmiri prints all over make it dressy and are perfect for simple festive occasions. We love it because it's super comfy and looks super chic.

Double Duty tip: Wear this with a Sweatshirt to jolt an Indian athleisure trend.

Hello, comfortable ethnic wear! This royal blue tunic is breezy and can be worn to almost any function. The beaded work on the front really makes the outfit pop and with added accessories can be the showstopper at any event.

Double duty tip: Pair this tunic with a pair of beige satin pants and aviators and you're brunch ready!

Blue Embroidered Rose Motifs Lehenga by Papa Don’t Preach

Feel like you're in a fairytale with this gorgeous half lehenga and crop top by Shubika. The imperial blue colour combined with raw silk adds an elegant modern twist to an ethnic concept. This outfit can be worn at any festive event and is a double duty outfit in itself.

Double Duty tip: We suggest you wear this funky blouse (that goes with almost anything) with a simple slip dress for a unique fusion look.

Maroon Embroidered Cotton Churidar Kameez by Rohit Bal

The gorgeous maroon floor length kurta with simple embroidery work is the perfect bridesmaid outfit! It’s an easy outfit to accessorise and can work as a relaxed outfit for day functions too.

Double Duty tip: Pair this long kurta with a trench coat, which is perfect to keep you warm during all the long, possibly cold outdoor functions.

Rani Rangeen Saree by Rain Tree

Everyone loves a good sari! Colour-blocked saris are perfect minimalist options for contemporary festive style and can be worn on any occasion. It's sophisticated, chic and looks fabulous on almost everyone.

Double duty tip: Instead of a regular Indian blouse try wearing this with a black mesh top and drape the sari in a different non-traditional way for maximum impact.
