Unique (and quick) looks that’ll keep you looking fresh all year long
If your childhood was anything like mine, pigtails were your obligatory go to hairdo. They’re simple, neat and perfect for a kid with big hair like mine! Safe to say then that I’ve got a few unresolved issues with braids – trendy though they may be, they remind me of a time where I had no say regarding my own hair.
More than a decade later, there’s no escaping them – everyone from the Kardashians to the Hadids wears them on the regular, and they’re staples on the runways pretty much every season, too. Turns out they can be cool after all!
They work with pretty much with any hair type for an effortlessly chic look with minimum effort – and they’re perfect for when you know your hair is due a wash but you just haven’t got the time.
Here are some of our favourite ways to wear them.
The Milkmaid Muse

Separate your hair into two even parts down at the middle and fishtail braid both sections tightly. Next, pull one braid up over your head and bobby pin it inches back from your hairline. Repeat on the opposite side, placing the second braid behind the first. For a super cute look make sure to leave you fringe or a couple of strands of hair out.
The Boss Girl Braid

Side part your hair and French braid the section with lesser hair till the end of your scalp. Then, start a normal three-strand braid adding hair from the other section and start to twist and braid your hair creating a bun. You’ll be boss ready with this no-nonsense hairdo.
The Pretty Girl Plait

Section your hair on the left side above your ear and make a braid. Angle the braid back around your head and secure the end of the braid with pins. Bring one braid across the back of your head and place it with pins. This look is perfect for date night or an elegant brunch.
The Chic Crown

This one is pretty much the same technique as the milkmaid braid. Part and regularly braid. Fasten the braids over your head, right near your hairline. Make sure to tuck the braids behind each other. Don’t forget to remind them whose queen with this crown.
