Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt & Kangana Ranaut – they all have a few things in common!
Ami Patel isn’t your regular celebrity stylist. Not only is she responsible for dressing some of the hottest actresses in town, she’s also the former fashion director of Harper’s Bazaar India, and has her own line of saris and jewellery – the woman knows what she’s doing.
From Priyanka Chopra (when she’s in town), Kangana Ranaut and Madhuri Dixit to Alia Bhatt and even Athiya Shetty – they all have two things in common, they’re all on every best-dressed list in the country, and they’re all styled by Patel and team.
Since we’re always looking for outfit inspirations, celebrities provide a ton of ideas on a daily basis. Over the years, we’ve picked up a few tips from Ami’s brand of styling and here are some of the main things we’ve learnt.
Dressing Age Appropriate Is Key
It’s always important to consider your personality when you dress. Another major factor is your age. You’ll hardly see a lady in her 40s wear a dress someone in her 20s would. Take Madhuri Dixit and Kangana Ranaut in these jumpsuits for instance. While they’re both stylish as hell, Madhuri’s neckline is a bit more modest as compared to Kangana’s plunging one.
A Classic Sari Will Never Go Out Of Style
As traditional as it may be, Ami has always been one for a classic sari. Be it an opening or a red carpet event, there’s a sari for every occasion and once in a while, it’s a fantastic statement to make. It’s no wonder she has her own line.
Going Monotone Is The Solution To Everything
Now, this is definitely more of a universal tip. Monotone is a highly recommended style move and so far, we’ve never seen it fail. White on white, red on red, pink or pink – pick your favourite colour and just layer it together.
You Don’t Have To Try Too Hard
Looking effortless is an art and like the name suggests, it’s quite simple to do. The trick is to pick one winning piece. It can be an off-shoulder blouse like Alia Bhatt, worn with your basic jeans or even a simple tee like Kangana worn with a plaid skirt.
