Tips We Stole From Celebrity Stylist Monica Rose

There’s a reason all her clients are on every “Best Dressed” list

Before I move on to helplessly gushing about Monica Rose, let me just start by telling you who some of her clients are. Feel free to raise your hand if any of these names ring a bell: Chrissy Teigen, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Chanel Iman, Kylie Jenner, Khloé Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian; the list goes on.

Not only do these women look flawless, they’re also always a step ahead of the curve when it comes to their style. They’re wearing things in ways we didn’t think were possible, they know about all the new trends before anyone else does, and it’s all thanks to their incredibly talented stylist.

So while they have her on call whenever there’s an event, here are a couple of “Monica Rose approved” tricks you can try next time you’re going some place important – you can’t hire her, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn from her!

Go Monotone

The one thing I took back very early on from everyone she’s styled is going fully monotone. Pick a color and layer it with a piece in the same shade family. It makes you look slimmer, taller and super stylish – what else do you need?

The Off-Shoulder Jacket

One thing all her clients have in common is they way they carry their jackets. It’s never fully on their shoulders and it’s never fully off either. One sleeve (sometimes both) always hangs down the side and somehow it makes the whole outfit look so much cooler!

Innovative Layering

It’s not just about throwing a jacket on your outfit. Monica is all about repurposing her clothes. A crop top over a tee, a t-shirt under a slip dress – just pick your two favorite tops and put them together.

All-Black For Every Body Type

Whether it’s a pregnant Chrissy Teigen, supermodel Kendall Jenner or curvaceous Khloé Kardashian, there’s a kind of all-black outfit that goes with every body type. Black was already our favorite color and now we have another reason to love it more.

The Powerful Choker

Sure we’re all into that choker trend that came crashing back down from the ‘90s. Monica Rose does it a bit differently. When it comes to the trend, matchy-matchy is in. She ensures the choker is a perfect match for the outfit.

Crop Your Own Top

This is a relatively new trick up her sleeve and like all the others, it’s hella’ cool. The easiest way to upgrade your t-shirt or tank is by simply knotting it in the front.
