All The Cool Indian Designers To Shop From This Wedding Season

It’s time to switch things up a little!

You’re probably too busy grumbling about this whole demonetization thing right now to worry about what to wear to your friend’s wedding. But if you are that 21st century woman who bought everything with her plastic anyway, we’re guessing you’re not quite as fazed – you’re still buying everything, from your groceries to your next cool outfit, with your card.

Which is where we come in. Wedding season can be a stressful time, demonetization or not. Even if it isn’t your own wedding, that cloud of “what to wear” doesn’t really dissipate until you’ve put the outfit on and checked yourself out in the mirror right before you  head out the door!

We’re here to help. We’ve hunted out all the cool designers you need to look at while buying your next Indian outfit. Why are they cool? Because you’ll see so much more than your ordinary saree or lehenga in their collections. Here are some of our favourites.

Shivan & Narresh

If you’re attending a destination wedding and most of the functions are by the pool or on the beach, there’s no looking past one of Shivan & Narresh’s designs. Bikini saris you can wear in the pool, lehengas that look like ball gowns and pieces that will make everyone else look twice – they’ve got everything you’re looking for!

Payal Khandwala

The first place I go to look for an outfit contemporary enough for a wedding party AND a regular formal event is Payal Khandwala. Kurtas with jackets, brocade skirts and an all-round cool vibe: you can’t go wrong.

Arpita Mehta

I think everyone will agree that dupattas can be quite inconvenient during a wedding. You can’t hold a drink and be taking care of your ever-falling dupatta all night long. In which case, Arpita Mehta’s cape jackets are something you’ve got to try!

Payal Singhal

If you love that off-shoulder trend that has been going around for a while now, you’ll love Payal Singhal’s designs. Off-shoulder blouses make up a big chunk of her collection and you can see that the style looks as good worn traditionally as it does with jeans!

Papa Don’t Preach by Shubhika

The yummiest candy shades are a part of all Papa Don’t Preach’s creations. From their shorter, skirt lehenga to one-shoulder blouses, if it’s an out of the box outfit you’re looking for, Shubhika has it hanging at her store.

Raw Mango by Sanjay Garg

As much as the style of your outfit matters, the fabrics play a huge part in making or breaking the look. If you’re looking for rich, luxurious fabrics, with a twist, Raw Mango has what you seek. Yes, you’ll see saris, kurtas and lehengas but the drapes and styles are like you’ve never tried before!

Masaba Gupta

Her last collection came full of fun silhouettes we couldn’t get enough of. Off-shoulder blouses, one shoulder dresses and so much sass. You’d better bring your confidence when you wear one of her designs this season.
